The DARE Categories Guide: What Can You Challenge?

DARE works best when the category, proof, and money terms are clear. Skill-Based DAREs are for two-sided competition. Task-Based DAREs are for Darer-funded rewards when someone completes a defined task.

The category does not decide the funding model. The constitution does. The creator should specify the DARE type, the stake or reward, the time limit, the required proof, and the resolution path: Answer Key, Witnessed, or Evidence.

Here's a breakdown of every category available at launch.

Sports

Football juggling duels, sprint races, basketball one-on-one, and other measurable physical challenges.

Common resolution paths: Witnessed for live performance, Evidence for uploaded clips.

How proof works: Upload a video clip of the performance or run the DARE live in Court. For head-to-head challenges, both participants should record at the same agreed location where possible.

Recommended stake or reward range: NGN 5,000 - 50,000

Tips: Agree on the exact format before accepting. "Most juggles in 60 seconds" is much cleaner than "best football skill." Specific terms mean faster review.

Gaming

FIFA seasons, chess matches, Ludo battles, mobile game high scores. If it runs on a device and separates skill from luck, it belongs here.

Common resolution paths: Evidence for screen recordings or result screens, Answer Key for rules-based puzzle formats.

How proof works: Screen recordings are the standard. For turn-based games, the final board state or result screen can be enough if the constitution says so.

Recommended stake or reward range: NGN 2,000 - 30,000

Tips: Agree on the platform and version. A FIFA DARE played on different console generations can be unfair. Clarify it before escrow locks.

Fitness

Push-up counts, plank holds, burpee sets, pull-up maximums. Clean rules make these easier to settle.

Common resolution paths: Witnessed for live rep counts, Evidence for recorded attempts.

How proof works: Front-facing video with full range of motion visible. Review follows the rep standard written in the DARE constitution.

Recommended stake or reward range: NGN 1,000 - 20,000

Tips: Fitness DAREs settle fastest when form standards are objective. Use smaller DAREs to build trust before moving to higher stakes or rewards.

Creative

Freestyle rap, dance battles, beat-making, spoken word. These are more subjective, so the judging standard matters.

Common resolution paths: Witnessed for live audience signals, Evidence for submitted performance packets.

How proof works: Video performance. For rap and spoken word, lyrics can be included as a text submission alongside the clip.

Recommended stake or reward range: NGN 5,000 - 100,000

Tips: Creative DAREs need clear criteria before escrow locks: time limit, theme, originality rules, and what counts as completion.

Mind

Trivia speed rounds, riddle-solving, debate challenges, spelling, and calculation formats.

Common resolution paths: Answer Key for objective answers, Witnessed for live debates, Evidence for recorded sessions.

How proof works: The Darer can commit prompts and answers before Court starts. Participants answer under the timer, and the answer events become part of the review packet if disputed.

Recommended stake or reward range: NGN 1,000 - 25,000

Tips: Specify the topic in your DARE terms. "Premier League trivia 2010-2024" is easier to verify than "general knowledge trivia."

Street

Hyper-local, geo-verified challenges designed for a specific place and time.

Common resolution paths: Witnessed for live local challenges, Evidence for location-backed proof.

How proof works: Location data, timestamps, clips, or photos can be required by the constitution. High-risk formats should use approved in-app capture where available.

Recommended stake or reward range: NGN 2,000 - 40,000

Tips: Street DAREs can be Skill-Based when participants compete in the same place, or Task-Based when a Darer funds a reward for verified completion.

Choosing your stake or reward

Start conservative. Build trust with a few smaller DAREs before moving to high-value challenges. A high trust score can unlock bigger stake and reward limits, better matching, and jury priority.

The best DAREs are not the biggest ones. They are the ones where the type, proof, and settlement rule are clear before escrow locks.
